—Hello again proggers—
19 hours of pure lock-in, entirely self-inflicted. Backend issues that made zero sense, 36 commits blown past chasing them, and then the realization that most of that was just bloat added for nothing. Rolled it all back. The actual fix was a few wrong URLs. Two patches later, here we are with a real v7 LTS as 7.0.3.
36 commits of overengineering to fix a typo in a URL, incredible
Cat or dog? http:// vs https://, apparently a whole 19 hour saga
Okay let's get into it~
—Yap—
Direct continuation of the mess from devlog #67's accidental wrong-commit push. Chasing backend issues led to a huge pile of unnecessary changes before the actual root cause turned up, tiny and embarrassing.
—The Great Suffering—
1 — Backend Issues, No Idea Why
Ran into backend problems that genuinely made no sense for most of the session. Dug and dug without finding the actual cause.
2 — 36 Commits Of Bloat
While chasing the mystery, ended up adding 36 commits worth of changes trying to work around or diagnose the issue. None of it was the actual fix. All bloat.
36 commits is a lot of wrong turns to take before finding one right one
3 — Rolled It All Back
Once the pattern became clear, reverted the whole pile rather than trying to untangle it piece by piece. Clean slate beats trying to salvage a wrong direction.
4 — The Real Fix: A Few Wrong URLs
The actual root cause, after all of that, was just a handful of incorrect URLs. That's it. 19 hours and 36 commits of detour for something that small.
5 — 7.0.3: The Real v7 LTS
Two patches after devlog #67's premature v7 push, 7.0.3 is the one that's actually solid. Properly tested this time before calling it done.
6 — The Lesson
Stated plainly: don't hastily push out LTS without testing it properly first. Learned the hard way across devlogs #66 through #68.
—FAQ (no one asked these but they are here)—
Q: What is a "progger"?
A: A human programmer. You. The one who spent 19 hours and 36 commits on a problem that was ultimately a wrong URL.
Q: Is 7.0.3 the final stable LTS now?
A: Yes, as of this devlog, following the rollback and the actual root-cause fix.
Q: Was any of the 36 commits of bloat salvageable?
A: No, rolled back entirely rather than picking through it.
Q: Is this related to the wrong-commit push from devlog #67?
A: Same overall saga, this is where it finally got resolved properly.
Q: Any process changes going forward?
A: Testing before pushing LTS, explicitly, per the lesson stated in this devlog.
—This is the end*—
*end for now, correct URLs permitting
